One Hour Window
Due to circumstances that can be out of our control (extreme weather, traffic, dogs having too much fun, etc) we reserve a one hour window around the time of your scheduled walk. If for example your walk is scheduled to start at 9am, you should expect that your walker will arrive anytime between 8am and 9am.
Payment
A credit card number on file will be required in order to book our services. Payment can be made with cash, e-transfer, or credit through our secure booking software.
Invoices will be emailed to you.
Invoices left unpaid after 5 days of the date received will be subject to a 10% fee. Invoices left unpaid after 7 days may be subject to cancellation of services.
Scheduling
Our top priority will always be the needs of the animals we work with. In a last minute situation or a special request we will always do our best to accommodate. However we can not guarantee availability in short notice situations.
Establishing a regular schedule for your dog is recommended. This helps to ensure that you receive your desired walking window. For this reason we require a minimum 48 hr advance notice to guarantee accommodations.
To schedule a walk with us, you can either call us at 250-490-7354, or email us at pawsitivetailsandtrails@outlook.com. Schedule requests can also be made through our booking website (contact us for more information regarding this service)
Cancellations
All cancellations must be confirmed at least 24 hrs in advance. Failure to cancel within the 24 hrs may result in a cancellation fee of $10.
If you should cancel within 2 hrs of the scheduled walk, or in the event that our dog walkers should arrive and our dog is not home, unavailable to be walked, or is inaccessible to them, you will be charged the full cost of the scheduled walk.
In the best interest of the dogs and the walkers, dog walks will be cancelled if there are extreme weather advisories, or strong storms. Extreme heat (above 35ᣞ) or extreme cold (below -15ᣞ) may also result in cancellations.
Emergency Care
In the event that something should happen to your dog that requires medical attention, we will do everything possible to ensure that your dog receives appropriate care in a timely manner. IF your dog walker is K9 First Aid certified we reserve the right to administer First Aid to the best of our abilities, and at our own discretion.
If we are unable to reach you in the event of an emergency we reserve the right to bring your dog to the nearest veterinarian that approves care at the cost of $20/hr. Any cost incurred will be included in your next invoice.
Vaccinations
We require that all dogs be up to date on the following vaccinations:
Rabies
Rabies is a deadly disease with nearly a 100% mortality rate. Bats are the only known natural reservoir of rabies in the province, though other mammals can be infected. Rabies in bats is not widespread, but a significant percentage of bats tested for rabies in BC are positive, particularly those that have come into contact with humans or domestic animals
DAP
The DAP vaccine stands for Distemper, Adenovirus, and Parvovirus. These are all viruses that your dog may come in contact with through their environment or other animals. All these viruses can have long lasting effects on your dog. Therefore, protection is required to decrease the spread of diseases and to protect your animal.
The following vaccinations are recommended to be up to date:
Bordetella
K9 Bordetella, also known as Bordetella Bronchiseptica and Kennel Cough, is a bacterium that causes a highly contagious respiratory disease in dogs, commonly referred to as kennel cough. It is one of the components of the Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC)
Parainfluenza
Canine Parainfluenza Virus (CPIV) is a highly contagious respiratory illness in dogs, often leading to symptoms like coughing, low-grade fever, and nasal discharge. It's spread through the air and is particularly contagious among dogs that come into contact with each other, such as in kennels or shelters.
